Dear Maristhill Residents and Families,
I am pleased to inform you that we had negative test results from our Covid-19 surveillance testing for all staff the past two weeks. We have tested our vaccinated staff, unvaccinated staff and quarantined residents. I would like to thank everyone’s efforts in following the facility infection control protocols to help us in controlling the spread of Covid-19 in our Maristhill community.
As many of you are aware during these summer weeks the Delta Covid-19 variant strain of the virus is spreading throughout the state. The Department of Public Health on August 4, 2021 issued an advisory regarding face coverings and cloth masks. Based on DPH guidance related to the recent spread of the Delta variant that DPH requires fully vaccinated persons to wear masks or face coverings when indoors if other risk factors are present. In, addition, all health care facilities are required to continue wearing masks and face coverings regardless of vaccination status for all residents, staff, vendors and visitors. Remember that even vaccinated persons can spread the virus.
In regards to resident visits we would recommend that you receive your vaccination as soon as possible so that you may visit your family member in their room. Maristhill would like to offer a way for a resident’s family member or friend to receive the vaccination. If, you are not vaccinated and would like to receive the vaccination, please contact Shirly Yellamaty, RN, ADON, to complete the vaccination process. The vaccination will be done at the facility. We will still provide Compassionate visits to residents regardless of vaccination status.
As a facility we are fully aware of the benefits of visits for our residents as well as the benefits for each resident’s family. We are striving to achieve these benefits along with controlling the spread of Covid-19 in our community. I would like to express our appreciation to all visitors in understanding the need to have a consistent process for visits. We should all remember that the vaccine does not ensure that a person cannot be infected with the Covid-19 virus, but it will help minimize the effects of the virus. The continued use of facemasks, hand washing with soap or the use of hand sanitizer will help the efforts to control the spread of Covid-19.
Thank you all for your support. If you have any questions, please let me know.
Regards,
James Tracy
