Letter to the Families 2/3/2022

2/3/2022

Dear Maristhill Residents and Families,

We would like to update you on the status of Covid-19 at Maristhill.  The facility performed it’s regular testing of staff and residents the past two weeks using both PCR tests and BinaxRapid tests.  The results have shown no new positive test results during the past two weeks.  And those residents that had tested positive have been identified as recovered Covid-19.  Unfortunately, from this outbreak we did experience one death of one of our residents.  We will be returning to our normal visitation activities on 2/4/2022.  However, I would ask our families to be careful with rushing back to the facility to visit.  The Covid-19 variant is still active in our community, and we do not want to start another outbreak.

All the staff members that tested positive during this outbreak have returned to work after testing negative for Covid-19. All were asymptomatic for Covid-19, and they were all vaccinated.  Again, all our staff has tested negative for the past two weeks and we will be returning to our regular testing schedule of once per week with a PCR test next Monday.

We will continue to require all visitors to complete the Covid-19 screening form and to take a temperature reading before visiting.  There are no exceptions to this requirement for visiting.  Also, if you encounter anyone that is ill or has symptoms of Covid-19 or the flu, you should postpone your visit.  I want to encourage all to consider getting vaccinated and boosted.  If, you have any questions regarding vaccines, please discuss with your physician.

We should all remember that the vaccine does not ensure that a person cannot be infected with the Covid-19 virus, but it will help minimize the effects of the virus.  The continued use of facemasks, hand washing with soap, or the use of hand sanitizer will help the efforts to control the spread of Covid-19.

Thank you all for your support.   If you have any questions, please let me know.

Regards,

James Tracy
