Letter to the Families 12/9/2021

12/9/2021/2021

Dear Maristhill Residents and Families,

We would like to update you on the status of Covid-19 in Massachusetts and at Maristhill.  The rise of the Covid-19 variant in Massachusetts has resulted in a 5% positivity rate in the state.  This is a significant rise, and it has reached 55% (208) of the skilled nursing facilities in Massachusetts.  At this time Maristhill has been fortunate not to have had a positive case of Covid-19 with its residents or staff.

However, we are at a crucial time where anyone who has been vaccinated or not may be able to contract Covid-19 and spread it unknowingly to others.  We ask you to seriously consider obtaining a booster vaccination and if you are not feeling well to consider postponing your visits to the facility until you are well.  If you have come into contact with someone who has been identified as Covid-19 positive, please consider postponing your visits to the facility until you have been tested.  We can provide a Rapid Binex Test upon request prior to visiting.  We can provide booster vaccinations to those residents or family members that have received anyone of the three vaccines.  Please contact Shirly Yellamaty, ADON to make arrangements for a booster vaccination.

As a facility we are fully aware of the benefits of visits for our residents as well as the benefits for each resident’s family.  We are striving to achieve these benefits along with controlling the spread of Covid-19 in our community.   I would like to express our appreciation to all visitors in understanding the need to have a consistent process for visits.  We should all remember that the vaccine does not ensure that a person cannot be infected with the Covid-19 virus, but it will help minimize the effects of the virus.  The continued use of facemasks, hand washing with soap, or the use of hand sanitizer will help the efforts to control the spread of Covid-19.

Thank you all for your support.   If you have any questions, please let me know.

Regards,

James Tracy
