Letter to the Families 12/23/2021

12/23/2021

Dear Maristhill Residents and Families,

We would like to update you on the status of Covid-19 at Maristhill.  We received notification today that a nurse from the Charles Unit tested positive for Covid-19.  The nurse is asymptomatic and will not be working until she fulfills the testing requirements set forth by the CDC and Department of Public Health.  She is vaccinated and boosted.  We have performed testing on our residents during the past week, and none have tested positive for the Covid-19 virus.  Also, today we performed a Binax Rapid test on all staff and residents with no new positive results.  None of our residents have exhibited any signs or symptoms of Covid-19 at this time.  We have been in contact with the Department of Public Health, and we are following their guidance on testing our staff and residents.  Please note that all of our staff and residents (except one) have been vaccinated and many have received their booster dose of the vaccine.

We have been asked about visitation during the Christmas holiday and we would advise you to exercise caution in visiting your family member.  You will be asked to wear PPE for your visit and a limit of two visitors at one time in a resident’s room.  We will utilize the front lobby for visits with a visit duration of one hour and limit of three visitors socially distancing wearing PPE.   If, you do not feel well or you have been in contact with anyone who has Covid or the Flu, please postpone your visit.  We can perform a Binax Rapid test to anyone who wishes to receive one.  Also, we can provide a vaccination or a booster vaccine dose upon request.  Please, reach out to Shirly Yellamaty, ADON to make those arrangements and the vaccination will be done within the week.  We order the vaccine from the pharmacy who is able to store it properly to the manufacture’s specifications.

Also, some families have asked about taking their family member home for Christmas.  Again, we would ask you to exercise caution for this type of a visit.  We strongly recommend that all members of the family be vaccinated and boosted for this gathering.  At a minimum all members of the family should be wearing a mask and social distancing during the visit.  The spread of the variants of Covid-19 is increasing dramatically.  We will be testing all residents and staff on Monday after the holiday.

If, any further test results come back positive we will contact you as soon as we are able too.

Thank you all for your support.   If you have any questions, please let me know.

Regards,

James Tracy
