A Letter for the Maristhill Family- Week of July 30th

8/3/2020

Dear Maristhill Residents and Families,

The facility has tested all of our staff and residents on July 29th per Department of Public Health guidance for those individuals that had previously tested negative on July 17th.  The testing of all of our staff and residents was a result of two staff members who tested positive with the July 17th test.  The two staff members were asymptomatic and were quarantined for fourteen days.  They have returned to work with no further health issues.  The testing of our residents will allow us to establish another baseline timeline for the status of our residents regarding COVID-19.  The results of the July 29th test were that one resident has tested positive.  No other residents that were identified as negative tested COVID positive.  The resident has been and continues to be asymptomatic.   The facility will quarantine the resident for fourteen days on the COVID positive wing of the Ames unit and we will perform another COVID-19 test for that resident to assist in monitoring their condition.  The facility will test again all of our staff this week to monitor for the COVID-19 virus per Department of Public Health guidance.

The effort to control the spread of this virus must be shared by all as the individuals that have been identified as COVID positive with these two testing efforts have been asymptomatic.   We ask that our residents and staff do all that they can to support our facility and our community by following the recommendations set forth by the CDC and DPH:

  • Social Distancing/staying home if possible and wear a facemask in public;
  • Washing Hands for 20 seconds with soap and water or use a hand sanitizer;
  • Self-isolating if showing any signs or symptoms of COVID-19; and
  • Seek medical assistance as necessary

We wish to remind you that we have updated our Maristhill website and we hope that this updated version will be helpful for the families to keep in contact with the activities and news from Maristhill.  We can be followed on Facebook and Twitter as well.

Thank you all for your support.   If you have any questions, please let me know.

Regards,

James Tracy
